KNEC: INFORMATION ON THE YEAR 2012 & 2013 KCSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to inform all year 2012 and 2013 KCSE Examination candidates’ on the following:

1.0 All Head teachers and 2012 KCSE candidates are advised to check on online registration system to confirm whether their photographs submitted for registration of this year’s KCSE examination are correctly uploaded. Any candidate whose photograph has not been uploaded online should submit a soft copy of a recent digital passport size photograph to KNEC. Any candidate who does not submit the required photograph is not eligible to receive a certificate for the 2012 KCSE examination;

2.0 Any candidate who submitted a CPE or foreign qualification without a letter of equivalence authorizing them to register for the 2012 KCSE examination should urgently register for the 2nd KCSE Qualifying test at the District Education Office by 12th October 2012 for onward submission of the registration details to the Council. The 2nd KCSE Qualifying test will be administered on 25th October 2012 at the County Director of Education’s office located in the former Provincial Education Headquarters for example for the Central region, the examination will be held at County Director’s office (MoE), Nyeri; Please note that the candidates will pay KES.900.00 as per the normal fee for the KCSE qualifying test.

3.0 All 2012KCSE candidates who sat for their KCPE examination in 2009, 2010 and 2011 have not met the entry requirement of having 3 years of formal instruction after sitting for the KCPE examination and are not qualified to sit for the 2012 KCSE examination. They are required to provide any evidence to proof that they are qualified to sit for 2012 KCSE examination to the Examinations Administration Department, Mitihani House, Dennis Pritt Road before 12th October 2012;

4.0 All 2012 and 2013 KCSE examination candidates are also required to ensure that the name used to register for the 2012 KCSE examination is a replica or identical to the name that appears on their KCPE certificate failure to which they will not be eligible to receive their KCSE examination results;

5.0 All Headteachers offering candidates for the 2012 KCPE and KCSE examinations are requested to download the revised KCPE and KCSE examination time tables from the KNEC website: www.knec.ac.ke or access it from their KNEC email. The Council is in the meantime making arrangements to dispatch the hard copies of the revised timetables to all Schools.
